Patrick Stewart was warned by Ian McKellen to take on a role in the Star Trek series as it would mean the end of his career.

Jean-Luc Picard, 79, was famous on television screens around the world from 1987 to 1994, and has since taken over the role for a series of shows and follow-up films.

Including, but not limited to: The television program that was screened last night by critics, Star Trek: Picard. In other words, the series centering its character on decades.

Speaking today in this morning’s British talk show, the actor said that his best friend McKellen had tried to stop him from participating in a Star Trek film.

Ian McKellen “admitted since he may have been wrong.”

After finding success in London’s West End, McKellen believed that bouncing back in Hollywood would be Tank Stewart’s career.

Host Phillip Schofield asked the actor how one of his “good friends tried to talk to him” about not continuing the series.

But who was it? It’s …… Sir Ian McKellen.

“It became very well known to the public when we premiered,” said Stewart, “it was Ian McKellen.

“He was in Los Angeles at the time and I told him that I had been offered this role in this series and he seriously warned me not to take the job because it would not be good for my career .

“I was doing very well in London at the theater and I shouldn’t give up on that.

“He has since admitted that he may be wrong.”

Maybe, just maybe he was a little here.

Stewart swapped his boyfriend’s advice, signing up for the science fiction series for six seasons. But he admitted that McKellen’s warnings haunted him.

“He (Ian) and I were very naive about the Hollywood series, I didn’t know that I had signed up for six years.

“Everyone said you couldn’t live again and we are lucky to get through the first season.”

“I was told to come to Hollywood to have fun and sunbathe.”

The American dream, really.

It looks like the duo developed a hobby of making headlines today after McKellen and Stewart shared a tender kiss at the premiere of Star Trek: Picard last night.
