Having played a role on Crossing Lines and Red Rock, Richard Flood got his major breakthrough in the United States in 2017 when he took on the role of Ford Kellogg in Shameless from Showtime. First appeared in season 8, the character of the Dublin resident was an “Irish carpenter and craftsman, lesbian sperm donor for many and a reluctant friend of Fiona (Emmy Rossum),” according to Deadline. Flood must have fulfilled a phenomenal role in that, um, interesting role because he was promoted to series regularly in season 9. The actor was “delighted”.
He landed the performance on Grey’s Anatomy in 2019, debuting as Dr. Cormac “McWidow” Hayes in season 16 of the ABC series. Given that McWidow has taken over the position of Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) as head of pediatric surgery at Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital, it is possible that he will be there for a while. Let’s hope Flood doesn’t get the bad words from video maker Shonda Rhimes because she has the reputation of destroying a career.
